Isabel Miramontes was born in Santiago de Compostella, and she grew up and did her studies in Brussels. He continued his training from 1988 in Patrick Pouillart’s sudio, where he acquired a solid drawing experience and in particular drawing from live models. In 1994, in the study of a friend sculptor, he made his passionate discovery of sculpture. This became his favorite mode of expression, to which he has been dedicated since.
Isabel Miramontes’ visual language constantly represents the human being in all the ambiguity of his power and his fragility, of his isolation and desire for freedom, his dreams and triumphs. These fascinating figures, a synthesis of forms and thoughts, express the reality of life even with drama, abandonment and tension. A sculpture, that of Miramontes, that surely speaks to everyone in the depths of their being.
